Some trips start long before the flight, often with a book bought for the wrong reason and finished at the right time. Reading becomes part of the journey, whether it’s a novel tied to a specific country, a fantasy, biographical or romantic story that pairs naturally with long beach days, or a list assembled for stretches of waiting and moving. We’ve carried many of these books on a Kindle through airports and long train rides, only to finish them somewhere that unexpectedly felt part of the story.
